ANGELS WEEP

nephilim56

Angels weep
As soldiers keep
In line, in step
In rhythm
The long
And winding
Road to death
Caught in wars prism.

A light breeze
Ripples the flag
Patriotic till we die
Swallows overhead
Those tramping feet
Pass on by.

Line upon line
To feed the machine
That eats men
Partial, whole
Teenagers to veterans
So many lost souls.
