Song of Life

David Wakeling

Lady Time dance for me, let me have this glorious day,
Wrap the whole Universe in one small wish and let me say,
I am here, I am here and it is good.

The bold and shameless winds beckon and hammer at my door,
Wolves and hounds of fear howl all night scaring me to the core,
They do not raise the grieving Moon in her sorrowful chore,
Or lift the treacherous Waves of terror in the sea for,
I am here, I am here and it is good.

To look deep into the blue sky, to smile at the green lawn,
To declare  the magic of life from the day you were born,
To sing I am here, I am here and it is good.

This poem evokes a mixture of feelings a wistfulness, a sense of now culminating in the moment and the joy of living it greeting it as if it were a welcome visitor that can not stay but a moment but that moment is all eternity. A poem of fear met with joyfulness. Time after all is all things. Lovely
