Aphotic Freedom

KTay

Rope me in

Your obscuring robe

Consume my shadow

My presence cloaked

Peeling back my skin

Let loose

Escaping from the judges noose

No longer captive in their sight

No verdicts read

No words to bite

No minds are swallowed

No anxious flight

Aphotic freedom

My obsidian knight

I'm blooming under

Your darkness falls

Inhibitions

Lifting off

I'm dancing through my trueself scene

Elation station

The place to be

Bar the light

For endless night

My fantasy

A darkling life

But fantasy is what it remains

The defacing dawn

Returns the shame

Falling back to hide away

Into my skin

The masquerade

The short lines make for a powerful strong canvas where many a reflection can be seen in this dark pool of wonder.

One pretends to be something else to hide the true self sometimes out of shame sometimes just shyness. I hear in this poem a plea to be oneself. Very nicely written
