FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW

nephilim56

In a shattered night
A teenage heart beats bright
The mighty columns of love
Come tumbling down
Nowhere left to go
Footprints in the snow
Shadows of tenderness
Now walk away.

Her diamond eyes delight
He tries with all his might
But somehow hes forgotten
How to forget
Her kisses were divine
Lulling in his mind
The temple of her love
Now crashing down.

The night is free of friends
Witnessed through a lens
Of loneliness and heartbreak
It must show
Trying now to hide
Amongst the laughing crowd
Your beauty hard like granite
Without a heart.

Deeply metaphoric this poem talks of the price of selling ones trust misplaced. Well written in its careful presentation it sends its message to the listener. Nicely done
