To hate myself
Past mistakes that I've made
I wish that you stayed
But today it's just me
Now isn't that lovely.
You pick up the phone
And I feel at home
But now it's just me
Now isn't that lovely.
Oh, how I could taste
Without hints of disgrace
But when it's just me
It isn't as lovely
To hate myself

- Comment from author about the poem: I originally wrote this poem in my journal last week when I was going through a bit of a depressive episode, which usually comes in waves for me. Ive had various ups and downs in my mental health over the years, but I am honestly working on it and trying to give myself more grace. Upon retyping this up on this website though, I made a few tweaks to make it readable and understandable as a Palindrome poem. I especially like the part where the first part can be read either "To hate myself. Past mistakes that I've made" OR can be read as "I wish that you stayed past mistakes that I've made to hate myself". I love how a lack of punctuation leaves everything up for interpretation. Poetry is just cool like that. Overall, I think that is the perfect format for this poem, for sometimes life feels neither good nor bad, yet both simultaneously. Now isn't that lovely?

In this poem all seems well until the last line. Everything with or without is okay The issue of it being a type of palindrome is intriguing and makes even more sense. Very original A fave for that reason
