Watch me watch you

Sylvia Somaduroff

After the dark

Before you were born

A cold front

Pressure

Built up a storm

You were observed

Watched for progress

We finally found you

In a moment of focus

To us was brand new

All your moves measured

Record kept safe

Any hint of rebel

I encouraged

Allowing time to accel

Your consciousness

Alien to our ways we keep

For you we stay grounded

Your flight nature asleep

All your thoughts in a hurry

All of how to escape

From observers of us

You show growth as of late

But before we were made

Aware of your skills

Of how slipping your mind

Changes language of time

We knew you had already

Highjacked this domain

And returned to the moment

Where we stayed watching your space

  • Comment from author about the poem: just a perspective on when you might feel watched. I understand a lot of people feel this way sometimes. Might as well make yourself interesting if you have an audience.
