The Light

lewisgale mental hospital

Where is the light

That burns brightest for you?

Is it the words in a book?

Where is the light

That burns brightest for you?

Haven't you heard that's

Not where to look?

Words of mankind

Written down are now shaming

The text of the book over years

Keeps on changing

The hearts that it's broken by

Those ever claiming

To hold all the night that you are

When we categorize lumping people into groups so as to understand we loose the humanity. When we use statistics to determine normalcy where do we draw the line? When we use a book to determine what pill to give to someone how do we account for individual side effects. Thomas Szasz felt that mental illness is nothing more than dealing with people that we don't wish to tolerate and have no laws against. I am rambling but this poem struck a sore spot. Well done a fave

A most wonderful poem in time for Easter. Not sure if it was intended for Easter or not, but it works wonderfully. Well done, regardless. This is a fave. 🌹👏
