The Day I Thought Would Never Come to Pass

The day I thought would

Never come to pass

When I read what someone wrote

Knocked me on my ass

Thought I knew them well

They always spoke of me with praise

But yesterday guess I should’ve known

Today wasn’t gonna be one of those days

You see I wrote love poetry

For the love of my life Sharon

Seems somebody’s taste buds

Let a disgruntled face go soarin’

I thought now isn’t that odd

He don’t act like that around me

I guess some people turn their back

And a different face you see

Think I’ll just take my leave

Plenty of places to write

Respectful of love

Poets who treat you right

And my words here will stay

For those who wish to read

But they’ll be “read only”

Guess that’s the way it’ll have to be

Farewell I say to all my friends

They know who they are

And to that distasteful so and so

You know who you are

     I’ve become aware that my love poems for Sharon have left a bad taste in the mouths of one, or more you here on MPS. The one I know of would not say anything directly to me but posted an entry about romantic poetry being of poor taste and of no interest. They didn’t mention who this poetry was written by, but I felt it was directed at me. My first thought was of insulting me, but as it began to sink in, also of insulting my writing and to Sharon, the love of my life. I don’t go around insulting other poets on this site or what they write of. I feel that there are many poets here on MPS who are very nice people and talented poets. I’ve seen my share of rude people on here too. And up till now I’ve been able to shrug off those rude people and move on. But now I see that some people get tired of love poetry and have to strike out against it. I was going to delete my page all together, but after thinking on it today I’ll just make it read only and leave it that way so whoever wants to read my poetry, can do so at will. Those who don’t want to read it won’t have to, which they could have done all along. If you don’t like someone’s writing, then you don’t read it, simple as that. But I feel what this person did was uncalled for and disrespectful. I will not be writing here at MPS any longer. Goodbye to my friends here, they know who they are.

And to the others… well let’s just say MPS deserves better. AP
