Pope Francis, Farewell to thee!
I:
May thou rest in peace, Great Pope and holy father,
Thou wert compassionate and worthy leader!
Rest in peace, dear Papa Francesco, noblest pope of our day
We hope the next pontiff will honour thy values and thy way-
II:
Administering duties with the glory as the great Francis,
Who showered compassion in every form of crisis!
We pray, in all our sadness and woe:
Riposa in pace, caro Papa Francesco.
III:
Holy father, thou art already in heaven’s breeze,
Where God will answer thy prayers for peace!
May thy people be always prosperous and free.
May thine kinsmen and country live in dignity.
IV:
Holy Father! Peace and prosperity art thine destiny,
May the Merciful Lord welcome thee into His glory!
We mourn thy loss, O heartthrob of humanity,
Every leaf of our trees mourns along with me:
V:
O the beloved pope, who passed away in Rome!
O the grief we are gleaning from our foreign home!
Blessed is the land of Vatican City and State,
Wherein all selfish sin and lust we abdicate-
VI:
And chaste clergy continue to bless the weak,
Teaching forgiveness by offering the other cheek;
With a pope who wielded the passion of truth and love,
Unwavering in the commandments of God above.
VII:
Living in greatness, for 88 years of golden purity,
Seeking among people only love and fraternity,
His Holiness had travelled on to the afterlife,
Where no sorrow shall linger, nor any strife:
VIII:
But we cherish the holy father’s religious domain!
And rejoice for his glorious faith and reign!
A friend, a father and a saintly leader,
Pope Francis shall remain a holy figure!
IX:
No intellect could match Pope Francis’s brilliance,
No poet could praise his delicate excellence.
He was more refined than the words man could utter,
His glory and benevolence shall last till the future.
X:
Like the midnight stars leading the nomad home,
Thine eminence was felt beneath this azure dome,
As we join billions in their distressing sorrow,
Mourning the pope who shall see no tomorrow:
11
XI:
Oh, as the bells of St Peter’s Basilica mournfully ring,
We weep for this Pope who was greater than a king,
With the death of Pope Francis, can there be any relief,
Or shall all mourners be embittered in eternal grief?
12
XII:
Peace be upon thee and blessed be thy nation,
Glory to thy sacred heart and pious station!
Oh, leader of denominations, hope of all nations!
Our tears are but a token of endless adorations!
13
XIII:
Oh, rivers of Rome, so eager and so endless,
Art thou mourning the demise of His Holiness?
When water pours from the droplets of rain,
Are the skies weeping in perennial pain?
14
XIV:
Shall we all grieve for the pope who passed away,
Leaving behind only vestiges of his glorious day?
As pious cardinals mark the end of thy papacy,
We shall mourn along with them in silent sympathy;
15
XV:
For thou art a true pope loved by billions in the world,
Thy pontificate preached only God’s eternal Word.
Blessed be thy home and more blessed is thy nation,
May all of Italy be free from sin and degeneration;
16
XVI:
And no demonic force overcome the goodness of mercy,
And never again may false slanders afflict this legacy,
And every falsehood brought by godless men and spread,
May those libels return ten-folds upon their sinful head.
17
XVII:
Our gratitude to thee, Holy Father, for thy Pontificate,
For being a human who did not discriminate,
And we thank thee for thy love for humanity,
And grateful are we for thy teachings of morality!
18
XVIII:
O Guardian of religions, faith and morality,
Defender of the weakest among humanity,
Muslim, Christian or irreligious we may be,
We are all disciples of thy holy papacy!
19
XIX:
Faithless enemies of the church who hounded thy shore,
Whose lies accosted the pious and the pure,
The godless flung unproved lies upon the clergy,
And seeks to destroy all of Christianity.
20
XX:
Oh, cursed are the shameless slanderers who lied,
Cursed and scorned they are until they died!
Without a god, or conscience, the pagans deceive,
With lust and rage, their depravities increase-
21
XXI:
But with a Pope so pious and priests so holy,
We have yet some hope for the lost and the lonely.
O let America and Europe be returned to past Christian glory,
Where the most honoured among clergy were the leaders solely;
22
XXII:
An era of faith where no depravities or perversions prevailed,
And a century where every sexual immorality and sinner was jailed.
May Europe return to the past Christian values and glory!
And America honour their clergy and Christianity!
23
XXIII:
Thou art desisted from hate, battles and wars,
Thy legacy shall remain, forever like the stars.
Farewell to His Holiness, farewell till eternity,
Farewell to the most extraordinary papacy;
24
XXIV:
Where Pope Francis reigned in humility,
Blessing all with his courage and dignity.
Glory to the noble Pope, honoured be his name,
Who lived each mortal day with a pious aim;
25
XXV:
Who sought the Merciful’s immortal creed,
Who strove to perfect each faithful deed!
Lord keep him near thy promised Home,
Earth’s brightest star, enclosed in a tomb.
26
XXVI:
O my high hopes, O the callous death,
You have merely taken his mortal breath,
O say, Pope Francis lives, and alive he shall be,
In blessings and piety, in his nation by the sea.
27
XXVII:
His Holiness lighted a path to goodness,
To this, all nations can surely bear witness,
From every lonely house in the hills of Africa,
To every family home in the depth of Asia-
28
XXVIII:
From every snow-covered hill of the Himalaya,
To the icy glaciers over the homes in Antarctica,
Thou art brightened lives with love and faith,
O how many millions were guided by thy wraith!
29
XXIX:
Auspicious father of grateful nations,
Noble pope of multiple generations!
Leader to million women and men,
Pride of his nation, the kindest friend!
30
XXX:
O the saintly heart that was born,
In Buenos Aires’ blessed morn,
O, thou whom all in this world adored,
The pope whom all religions revered:
31
XXXI:
Oh, how the tears from our eye streams,
Mourning thee in the sky of dreams!
May God’s love upon thee forever shine,
And thy glory may the world enshrine!
32
XXXII:
For with utter sadness, a grief resounded from Pompeii to Paris,
When hearing the news of the death of His Holiness Pope Francis,
We mourn the devastating loss of this faithful man of God,
And those with whom His Holiness served, home and abroad;
33
XXXIII:
We extend our sympathies and share in their sorrow,
Inspired by his life, we bear with patience, this woe,
Rest in Peace Papa Francisco, and let divine light shine and glow,
With glimmer of thy goodness, rays of righteousness bestow;
34
XXXIV:
So none may bring forth wars or pain upon these lands,
And no immorality nor perversion hijack moral commands,
And sacred scriptures are read and honoured by children,
Ending all pagan degeneracy that are brought by godless men;
35
XXXV:
Sins are suppressed by the holy truth of God and His emissaries,
Who alone can silence the darkness of their godless falsities.
Rest in paradise, Papa Francesco, and let the light of God reign.
Thou art cherished, and thine legacy shall not be in vain!
36
XXXVI:
Papa Francesco riposa in pace. Buon viaggio!
Grazie, Santo Padre per quello che hai fatto!
Oh, in His Holiness’s eternal rest and peaceful dream,
May he receive our highest consideration and esteem;
37
XXXVII:
And the Catholic Church receive condolences and affection,
And our loving prayers, from every religion and nation,
The light from thy faith extended beyond every border,
As thy compassionate spirit restored divine order;
38
XXXVIII:
Thy love shattered the darkness of depravity and discord,
As hope and happiness echoed from thy pious word,
Noble were they predecessors and nobler wert thou,
May thy successor be true to the eternal chaste vow;
39
XXXIX:
And lead with love and celibacy and compassion,
Teaching us the beauty of faith and dedication,
Choosing the simplest, most ascetic way of living,
As thou hast lived consistently in love and thanksgiving!
40
XL:
The most steadfast guardian of the loving Church,
Thou art leader of human hearts that seek or search,
Thy unconquerable spirit, even death cannot destroy,
May thy prayers bless us with eternal truth and joy.
41
XLI:
Oh, heartfelt condolences be to the Church and clergy,
And solemn sympathies for all those who are priestly,
From every hill, stile or steeple,
We salute the Pope of the People-
42
XLII:
Who united many religions and nations,
With his keen compassion and emotions,
His Holiness’s heritage will be deemed quite honourable,
For the Pope’s commitment to the world’s most vulnerable;
43
XLIII:
With great respect and warmth, we recall thy virtue,
Thy leadership that encompassed world view,
The natural charisma thou have endowed upon people,
And thy hope and dreams proved thou wert humble-
44
XLIV:
Advocating a spirit of reconciliation and understanding,
Thine papacy was for mankind an everlasting blessing.
Millions of faithful around the world are grieving thy demise,
Of losing a selfless leader and role model at today’s sunrise.
45
XLV:
Thou art supported the elderly, the sick, and the living,
With unflinching optimism, resilience and blessing,
Remaining steadfast in the face of detractors,
Who belittled thy bravery in thy life’s chapters-
46
XLVI:
But thou wert alone with messages of peace and joy,
Thy love, no mortal could dream to diminish or destroy.
Great wert thy compassion and concern for the poor,
And the benedictions thou bestowed upon their door-
47
XLVII:
Dispensing God’s mercy on all who lived and died,
Welcoming and blessing us like a heavenly guide.
Preghi per tutto il mondo come faceva sulla terra.
Che il Signore ti accolga nella sua gloria!
48
XLVIII:
On the 17th day of December, eighty-eight years ago,
The sovereign of Vatican City State was born to bestow,
To bring peace in the world as the head of the Church,
Guiding the human souls who seek or search-
49
XLIX:
With sweet simplicity and hallowed humanity,
Always at the service of the poor and the needy,
May he rest in peace and watch over us from heaven,
Blessing the sorrowful with kindness and compassion.
50
L:
O Almighty Creator of the varied climes,
Keep him in Thy care till the end of times!
Buon viaggio, Papa Francesco.
Addio Santo Padre.
Goodbye, Pope Francis.
51
LI:
How severe is the news so bitter and anxious,
Of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.
The kindest soul who radiated mercy in every action,
And exuded love for every race and nation.
52
LII:
O dearest Pope, preacher and friend,
Thy mortal life hath come to an end,
88 years ago, born in a home in Argentina,
Easter Monday marked the end of thy era;
53
LIII:
The 266th pope of the Church and its leader,
Occupant for 12 years of the throne of St. Peter,
A national symbol of courage and compassion,
Thy noble heart belonged to every land and nation!
54
LIV:
Noble champion for peace and compassion,
May thy soul receive eternal benediction!
A gracious guide within the Roman Catholic Church,
But a global emissary to ones who dismiss or diverge;
55
LV:
Farewell, Holy Father, rest in peace like a gem;
May God welcome thy soul into His Kingdom.
Thy passing was bitterly sad for me,
But a devastating loss for humanity!
56
LVI:
Endless was thy love for the poor and the meek,
Thy blessings for the refugees and for the weak,
And thy steadfast support of human dignity,
Hath made thee beloved to all nationality.
57
LVII:
O the glory to the Holy Pope who lives no more!
We lament His Holiness who graced earth’s shore,
Death had delivered him from these mortal lands,
O give glory to his name, and join brotherly hands;
58
LVIII:
How can one not yield to lamentation,
Or weep as a token of our dedication?
From nations afar, we offer our consecration,
To the Pope who lived in piety and dedication.
59
LIX:
It is still surreal to believe the proclaimer’s word:
The dearest Pope Francis had left our world!
Deepest condolences to mourners across nations,
Who lament the Pope and his kindest emotions!
60
LX:
Revered and beloved Pope who has departed,
To a nobler abode fit for the noble-hearted,
Fair was the day and blessed was the morn,
Upon which though hath lived and was born,
61
LXI:
Eternally grateful are we for the goodness in thy heart,
Our gratitude to thee for the light thou hast brought,
Humbled indeed are those whose lives thou revived,
In thy compassion and courage, they have survived.
62
LXII:
As banners wave low from towers of distant towns,
And flags are lowered by those with crowns,
We all suffer in sorrow for the late Pope,
Whose death extinguished one final hope.
63
LXIII:
His Holiness Pope Francis is traversing in death,
But was loving every faithful till his final breath,
Shepherded dutifully the Church and its creed,
Banishing from earth the scars of sinful deed.
64
LXIV:
Offering the world a spiritual journey, being the epitome of moral authority.
May the light of Christian morality prevail, and no pagan impurities taint its holy veil!
Santo Padre, grazie per la tua infinita saggezza. Addio.
Dio accolga la tua anima nel suo Santo Regno.
65
LXV:
Oh, never again may the falsity or lies be spread,
Nor slanders against holy men be sung or said!
Let lustful degenerations be erased from this continent,
And only purity and faith in our God be present!
66
LXVI:
Oh, how we mourn the loss of our noble Pope!
How dreary is this life without a papal hope!
Whose twelve years of pristine papacy,
Glimmered with love and harmony!
67
LXVII:
After 88 chaste years of God-given piety,
Thine death hath ended this 12-year papacy,
Marking the final part of thy latest days,
With glimmers of peace and hopeful rays!
68
LXVIII:
Ah, illustrious pope with glorious gifts,
And great beneficence and unique merits,
Too soon did we suffer this loss so severe,
Too bitter is this pain and too firm the fear!
69
LXIX:
Oh, how he served the church with such dedication,
And helped humanity with incredible devotion,
Mending mankind throughout his life and ministry,
His Holiness manifested compassion and unity.
70
LXX:
The plants in the plain, the birds in the gale,
The people of thy nation weep and we wail,
Mourning the loss of this eternal beacon of light,
Wishing thy presence more often blessed our sight.
71
LXXI:
May the noble and righteous ones forever defend you,
May the God who guided us perpetually bless you.
Consecrating these lines to heaven’s noble guest,
We pray he shall eternally be loved and blessed!
72
LXXII:
Oh, glorious and beloved pope of the people,
Who greeted all as a friend and an equal!
For us, the joys of this life hath vanished,
When thou art in illness had languished;
73
LXXIII:
But O, let us remember the pious Pope, and father,
Whose heart was gentle as the kindest mother,
In heaven’s realm, may he eternally be,
In holy joy and hallowed harmony!
74
LXXIV:
His Holiness displayed compassion and mercy,
And shall be remembered for his hope of unity,
His unceasing commitment to the causes of every faction,
Extending favour and love to every faith and nation;
75
LXXV:
Striving patiently for the benefit of those in need,
Untouched by bigotry against any foreign creed,
With existential expression of faith in God,
Spreading his love upon every path he trod!
76
LXXVI:
Through his prayers and care for both earth and its men,
Touching so profoundly the lives of every citizen!
Along with countless people around the world grieving,
For this devastating loss, I shall commence my mourning;
77
LXXVII:
And hope that all who were inspired by His Holiness,
Shall remain faithful followers of his noble excellence!
Men and women of every faith are overcome by sadness,
Mourning Pope Francis’ 88 years of kind-heartedness!
78
LXXVIII:
How can we survive in this dark hour to grieve,
Knowing the dear Pope Francis has taken his leave,
Oh, how the noblest pope of this mortal world,
Is dwelling in grace with the Munificent Lord!
79
LXXIX:
Weep, O weep for the gentle Pope who lives no more,
Weep for His Holiness who was born on our shore,
But lived to bless every sovereign land or nation,
And sought only peace with noble dedication.
80
LXXX:
Pope Francis subsisted upon faith in God’s mercy,
Becoming the embodiment of benevolence and humanity.
Defending the vulnerable and impoverished victim,
O none here on earth may be compared to him!
81
LXXXI:
With pious voice and heart, he gifted us hope,
Exalting the station of the people’s Pope.
Bringing safety, love and dignity to the plain,
Erasing their sorrows, pestilence and their pain.
82
LXXXII:
Noble wert thy years and blessed was thy papacy,
And for thee, our tears shall flow till infinity!
Blessed art thou, O Pope, and loved by all,
Forever shall prayers be heaped upon this pall!
83
LXXXIII:
For thee, Holy Father, this poet offers a tribute,
A humble offering in lieu of a salute,
For eons, may future generations say,
Pope Francis was glorious till his latest day.
84
LXXXIV:
Goodbye, Holy Father, farewell to thee,
Our love for thy Holiness shall last till eternity.
Bid him farewell, O loving people of Italy!
Farewell to him from the land of the free!
85
LXXXV:
As we mourn the loss of a great leader of humanity,
Who was more kind and accomplished in mercy,
As waves of mourners gather in St Peter’s Square,
As bells of bereavement toll along with our prayer-
86
LXXXVI:
Farewell, O Pope, may thy legacy forever survive,
We shall mourn thy death as long as we are alive!
Farewell to the Pope who was pious and sweet,
Bid fragrance and roses beneath his feet;
87
LXXXVII:
Cheer him on with bouquets of flowers,
Bid him farewell with priestly powers,
Because Christians, Moslems or Jewish we may be,
We are all but one in our farewell to thee!
88
LXXXVIII:
And Muslims, Christians, or agnostic we may be,
We are all but one in our admiration of thee!
For thy life was love, and compassion thy creed,
And in grief, our hearts with tears shall bleed!
