Dances with Pain

analogaddict

I love you further than the edge of what is known

and past the limits of even my imagination

I doubt you will ever understand

My soul leaps with the thought of you

and my tears flow like cloudbursts

driven by the thunder in my heart

and the lightning in my soul

I whisper your name at night

to myself

As I lay in my bed trying to sleep

Sleep, if only so I can dream of you

My heart calls to you

echoing into the blackness of night

but I know you can not hear

Tears, so many tears

Cry myself a river

for all the good

I know it will do me

I cry anyway

My friends ask

Why do you torture yourself so?

And this is my reply

I don't think Love knows my name

But Pain and I are old friends

And dancing with pain

is still better

Then not dancing at all

It is the last stanza that conveys the message best and is the most powerful. A lovely write
