Dare

Pineapple_pizza018

It was all a dare

Now I know life isn't fair

If I didn't know that before

Love isn't a open door

What I saw, shook me to my core

I let the scene play out

I don't know why I did

I wish we didn't end like this

I wish I would’ve opened my mouth

Looking back I know nothing would come out

I wish I would’ve done something

Now I'm barely breathing

I'm crying so much

Because you were the one I loved

You did all this because you were dared

You never really cared

Now I see

You never loved me

It was only ever about winning

What seems an absurd joke is more real than one might imagine, although not a bet with others a bet with ourselves. A thought provoking and sad poem
