Mother Rain

Blessing Awoniyi

Dear Mother Rain

In your presence

Old rain

Our milk teeth we shed.

Under your guidance

Sweet rain

We recited our alphabet.

Under your cover

Tender rain

We wetted our pants.

To your music

Amiable rain

We danced in the nude.

Under your watch

Fair rain

We played our soccer.

With your touch

Inspiring rain

We were reborn with great dreams.

Dear Mother Rain,

Why not keep us

 In your

bosom till the end of time?

A beautiful poem so comforting and natural the words in it fall like the rain. A fave
