Verse 1
When I wake, daybreak,
Sometimes i feel like sleeping in.
I’ve never been this way
But growing up feels so different.
Don't think I'll ever be the same
I'm just trying to survive until the next day.
Verse 2
Oh, I'm lost at sea,
Waves are all cascading 'round me.
All the cacophony,
It's hard to hear the melodies
But across the waves, I see the break of day
Somehow i think I'm going to find my own way
Chorus
But sometimes it’s hard to stay awake
When I'm always daydreaming of other things,
Like why are we all here and what does it all mean?
I get all caught up in my dreams.
Bridge
I'm blinded by
a torrent of dreams all haunting me
They follow me everywhere, at night
and throughout all my days and life
A constant stream imprisons me
Verse 3
But at the break of day,
all those thoughts just go away
And i can finally see
all i searched for in my dreams
because sunrises and sunsets give me chills
Everything seems so much clearer when the earth stands still
Chorus
But sometimes it’s hard to stay awake
When I'm always daydreaming of other things,
Like why are we all here and what does it all mean,
I get all caught up in my dreams.
Outro
I’ll never escape- this sea is endless-
But I'd rather dream till break of day.

- Comment from author about the poem: Initially, I started writing this to be sung to the tune of “From the Start” by Laufey. The words and syllables didn’t quite match up in the end, so I started making my own tune for it. One of these days I want to start a youtube channel and post music for this :)

This is always an intriguing issue of whether we are dreaming or awake a type of Matrix issue or more anciently a philosophical question. Well written.
Thank you; sometimes my dreams and daydreams feel more real than the world around me so I think about that question a lot
I particularly like the bridge, blinded by a torrent of dreams all haunting me, I have spent most of my life feeling that way. Is life for real or one never ending dream, really enjoyed the read
Thank you very much! I feel like the imagination is a double-edged sword, often leaving those who wield it both enchanted and haunted
You are very welcome
