Maturity and its Effects on the Young Woman

Novarain

A juvinile with a pleated skirt just below the bottom of her knees

And a bag full of wisdom

A bag full of adult secrets, the contrandband of youth

The thoughts the youth are forbidden from

She holds Batatille in her left hand

And Crowley in her right

She knows what her classamates don’t

Gives slips of an old man’s wisdom on pink Post-It notes

Kisses boys behind the school in a way only the goddess Venus could

And talks with the confidence even thirty-year-olds haven’t discovered

She despises the typical boy

Who stands trembling before her

As her light of development beams and glows brightly behind her

He becomes quickly blinded

And remains forever a coward in her firery, hungry eyes

That long for a soul that can withstand her light

Her confidence that came with her growth

That she had planted the seed for in the ground so long ago

She dares you

To take her on

To show her how she can grow more

She dares you

To take her on

To grab her hand and fly her away with you

To excite her

Like nobody else before could do
