You are not the scars

Jane Walker

You are not the whisper of fear in the night,

Not the cold steel, nor fluorescent light.

You are the fire that refused to be dimmed,

The brave beating heart when the outlook looked grim.

You are not the loss of what once was yours,

But the strength that grew through unfamiliar doors.

You are laughter that echoes through pain’s quiet halls,

A warrior standing when everything falls.

You wear your truth in each line and each scar,

Proof of how strong and how precious you are.

You are courage in motion, a fierce steady flame,

A soul that won't settle, a voice with a name.

And now—look ahead, there's more road to explore,

With joy in your pocket and dreams at the door.

The sun didn't forget you—it waited to shine,

On the woman who’s walking her own bold new line.

What a powerful poem, steadfastness and that inner strength to conquer whatever ails or tribulations, to walk a 'bold new line' through, 'unfamiliar doors'. Inspiring as it is touching. Well done indeed.

    Kind regards,

    Tony.
