The Blindness of Pride

TheInnerLens

Pride whispers sweet, seductive lies,
Lifting you high, too far to see
The ground below, the warning signs,
The price it asks, the fall to be.

It feeds you dreams of endless flight,
A golden throne above the world.
But pride is but a fragile crown,
Cracked and waiting to unfurl

You walk on air, convinced you are free
But step by step, the truth unwinds
Pride exalts but blinds the eye,
Until the fall is all that shines.

  • Comment from author about the poem: While pride lifts you with the promise of endless flight and a golden crown, it also blinds you to the warning signs below. Embrace your ambitions with humility and balance, knowing that true strength comes from staying grounded even as you soar.

TIL, your poem is biblically prophetic. Proverbs 16:18 says: Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Thank you for sharing your poem. It reads easily, and its message is relevant.
