PLAY MARY

Kiprotich Langat

Hale you for this, not Hail Mary.
Health is wealth—but what is that,
Without mental wellness?
My gaze was just stolen—
I saw you, and played the victim.

Said it is you keeping watch.
We were fine—
I don’t know now.
It’s play, Mary. Stay fine—
Not in vine,
’Cause this ain’t a vineyard.
They say I’m running mad to you—
Is that love,
Or is it admission?
Keep guessing the potent in your potential.
Keep going.
Don’t walk—
Just move forward.

All I can tell you:
Don’t tell me who you are.
I know you.
You knowing yourself is what matters most.
You are a champion.
They like you—
As their companion-ion.

Questioning one's mental health is merely a matter of viewpoint. Playing the victim is one way of seeing mental health. A most interesting write
