Mixed signals

Nicole Pritchard

Love and doubt, a toxic blend

In your eyes, my heart contends

With every smile, a hidden pain

A relationship tainted, love in vain

We've shared our dreams, our laughter too

But now, I'm left with just a clue

A feeling that something's amiss

A heart that's breaking, a love that's dismissed

You say I'm all yours, but I'm not sure

If your words are true, or just a lure

I'm torn between the love I feel

And the suspicion that's real

In your arms, I find peace

But in my mind, a war will cease

Trust is broken, love's on trial

A verdict uncertain, my heart in denial

Clever wording that speaks of the battle between love and trust and very nicely written
