The Long Winter

daisychain

The winter was long, dark and cold

Days had been icy, spirits were lowed,

Sunshine had vanished, replaced with gloom

We dreamed of the summer and the flowers that would bloom.

We made use of the winter to renew and inspire

And dreamed that the Spring might make spirits higher

We thought of the sweetness that comes with Spring

Long days in warm sunshine with a sip of cold gin

Now Winter is fine when its cold and bright

But four months is enough and it’s been pretty rough

So roll on the Spring and sunshine galore

To lift our spirits and smile once more.

Dirge of winter and the first exposition of spring. A lovely write that feels somehow musical in nature.

Wishing away the gloom of winter and inviting the brightness of spring, enjoyed the read
