Wild Child

mya

my wild child,
always on your own,
bound to nothing—
unafraid of being alone.

twice bitten, never shy.
never needing a lot,
you were easy to raise—
your laces tied, a tight knot.

learned it all, no help,
your own, best teacher.
cheering up for yourself—
one seat in the bleacher.

your tears are an ocean,
with winds that betray,
your confidence a boat—
sailing despite, never astray.

the brightest, burning star,
in the eternal night
they say shall you be—
then shall come light.

no problem in solitude,
one blooming flower,
in a vast, plain land—
charging your earthly power.
