Stuck;

ᴍᴏᴏɴ

Stuck.

I'm stuck between society's expectations

and my own humane limitations

I'm stuck between my choice

and their overruling voice

I'm stuck between what i want

and what they want for me

I'm stuck between making them proud

and what i really want for me

Stuck.

I'm stuck between my self,

between mind and soul.

Stuck whether i should listen,

Or to go chasing after my dreams.

I'm stuck from both sides,

and I'll be crushed in between....

I'm Stuck.

A poignant write over the very relatable pressures many feel, doing what everyone says and expects you to do or doing what you actually what to do , Nicely expressed and written

I hear the dilemma in this poem of being oneself and what others want. One can not live for others like a bird with clipped wings it sings but can not fly. In a cage fed and protected it is safe but not itself. Making that choice to fly means taking the responsibility of caring for oneself and all the dangers involved. A tough message in this poem that calls out to many. Raw and with some rhyme it needs to fly to become happy. Some birds return to their cages after being freed.

But how does one simply defy the unsaid rules and expect still be happy knowing no'ones proud of me?

      • sorenbarrett

Only by being truly proud of oneself. A hard but doable task.
