Unrequited Love

Eira Solen

I still can't forget how I broke the heart of a man
who once loved me like I was his entire world.
I can't forget the tears in his eyes,
the trembling in his voice,
the way confusion clouded his face
as he tried to understand my words.

I can't forget how my silence and sentences
cut through him like a sharp-edged knife.
I can't forget the sorrow in his eyes
as he whispered that his love was wasted.

I can't forget the tenderness in his care,
the fierce devotion he offered so freely.
I can't forget the way he loved me—
utterly, selflessly, with all his soul

  • Comment from author about the poem: Wanted to share this to him then I realized it was all my fault that we ended like this. The old him, the way he used to care the love that he had for me everything changed because of my decision. Even he wants to stay, even I wanted to stay. But I am in a situation to choose between the things I love the most, I didn't want things to end like this even by losing one among them would not bring me the happiness. Now I carry this guilt for life long. Neither of them can understand the pain that I go through now ..........

A very touching, honest and heartfelt write of acknowledging the way they treated someone who truly loved them, and clearly has remorse over that, emotional and well expressed write

We all have choices and sometimes we feel we made the wrong one and can't go back. A tough realization. Clocks only run one way. Good read
