Conceptual Identity 'Me'

AddieThomas100

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
That they may judge,
And hold a grudge.

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
That they may stare,
That they may compare.

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
That they may diagnose,
My well-publicised woes.

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
That memory be evoked,
And anger once again stoked.

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
That labels remain in bold,
As the story is retold.

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
The narrative moves,
Someone ‘approves’.

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
The gauge moves once more,
The feedback is poor.

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
Will there be peace,
Where the physical eyes feast?

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
I see my reflection,
In their reaction.

Conceptual identity me,
For all to see,
Close the eyes of the face,
Open the eye of Grace.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The Sensory Which Traps As long as we allow our senses to hurl judgement and condemnation at the world, we will sit in the same 'boat' as those who are paddling in that direction. To be that loving space, through the eye of Grace. Listen carefully to those who heap scorn and condemnation on others.....don't join them. But don't judge them either..... Nothing changes if we look at the speck in another's eye and fail to remove the log in our own.
