I can not give the name as it breaks confidentiality. This world lost a patient I cared for recently that meant a lot to many. A life well lived and time well spent. He braved it out until the end. Smart as they come; he schooled me on some history lessons we tend to forget. Not this man; as he himself was a Vietnam Vet. A caring heart he had and a sense of humor too. He made the best with what he had. As sometimes one may not do. He cared deeply for his wife and family. One thing he’d often say; “they mean the most to me.” I can’t go into too many details as there are rules I must abide by. This poem is more of a celebration of his life. He always meant well no matter the situation at hand. Often he’d remind me in subtle ways to be prepared. Prepared for anything that life may throw your way. Whether good or bad. Make the best of it come what may. I never will forget the lessons that he taught. Or how he was famous for repeating his wife’s every last thought. He loved decorating. Many tchotchkes he collected. He’d find a place for everything; and was sure it was perfect. A good man he was; and will be deeply missed; a history teacher, a loving husband; and father. He’s at the top of many lists.
