This Is Us

Virelle

You’re something I can’t comprehend but feel

Always in denial.

We both know I’m not available

We could try, but not in this timeline

Unexpected turns,

Unexpected mourns

This is us.

The undebatable truth.

Beneath your touch,

I crawl back again

Pull away.

Still gripping what should never have been

Heavy breathing behind our ears

Too loud for something that’s too gentle

Friction in motion.

How I wish it were only us

Reflexes on skin

I don’t want to miss what I’ve already missed

Restraint in my blood

You’re too good to be despised

And it’s killing me

This is us.

The unattainable long-lasting touch.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I can't seem to forget what happened that night, or how you held my neck, pulled me close and kissed me. It was something I don't normally feel. I know I shouldn't.

More than imperfection a recognized defect that is accepted if not welcomed. Wonderful incompatibilities. Very nice

I appreciate your comment. I don’t really know how to write. I’m merely expressing with what I lacked. Thank you!

To recognize one's weakness is a strength many don't have. Writing what you feel is enough and wording comes with practice. Stay with it and your words will shake the earth.
