six feet.

seori

**I encourage you to read this out loud: softly, slowly.

six feet has never felt so far

not when we shared a room,

an evening,

a silence.

the space between us then

was a breath,

a glance,

a laugh that filled the air.

but now, the space between us

is an ocean,

tides of silence

pulling words back to shore

before they reach

the edge of your breath.

i could reach,

stretch my fingers out,

grasp the air between us,

but the distance is more

 than skin and bone.

it’s in the silence,

the words that choke before they form,

the way your eyes drift away,

as if looking at me is

too much like looking at yourself.

six feet apart,

and yet it feels like miles, an ocean,

and we are islands.

lost in the same room.

Powerful!! This poem speaks to me and it echoes in my memory. It is deep emotionally and sounds highly personal and in the raw feeling it is still well composed a fave

  • Poetic Licence

This has the feel of a raw and heartfelt write, strong emotions over the increasing distance between each other, nicely expressed and written

  • Soman Ragavan

Attachment happens and gets the better of us. If it's one-sided, it becomes problematic. Thus the words "choke" and "drift away" in the poem.
