MARBLE ANGEL

nephilim56

The marble angel
Looks to sky
With saddened lashes
Frozen eye.
Gentle arms
That guide the lost
In lifes struggles
Pain and cost.

Silent fingers
Hold the book
In tightened grasp
Pages loose
But never falling
To earth as such
Heavenly grace
Sorrow must.

Take solemn steps
In lifes winding road
Days, months, years
Centuries to touch
Marble angel
Looks to sky
With saddened lashes
Frozen eye.

Quite the image painted in this poem and the metaphor extends beyond the image to the meaning of a marble angel that remains frozen and imprisoned in stone. Nicely written
