Being a priority

Nicole Pritchard

To be a a priority, not a chore

A person cherished, forever more

Not a task to check, or a duty to bear

But the one they seek, with love to share

Not an inconvenience, or a burden to bear

But the joy they crave, the love they declare

The one they want to be with, through laughter and tears

The safe haven they seek, through all their fears

To be the one they choose, above all else

The love they nurture, the heart they bless

Not just a presence, but a cherished place

In their heart, in their life, a loving space

To feel valued, not just tolerated

Loved, not just obligated

To be the one they turn to, in every need

The love they prioritize, the heart they feed

A poem acknowledging a need to be needed and wanted in a relationship not just tolerated. A need that we all have. Most lovely
