Merci

Ellen Marsell

I wanted to tell you ''Merci''!
It's a universal word
not so easy to express...
"Merci" doesn't mean ''Mercy!''
We say "merci'' to our friend
not often to love
which is like a gift granted us
by the gods!
I wanted to tell you ''Merci!''
Life is not a quiet ocean
so many waves and reefs
move in my soul...
But you're the haven in the storm
the port that avoids shipwreck.
I tell you thank you!
Vielen dank! Grazie mille!
Simply ''Merci!''
And set to music something more...

Words to convey meaning all that we struggle with as a poet applies in this simple word. Lovely

Delicate in tone, profound in meaning — it truly impresses.
