The Light in the Room

AmIAPoet-QuestionMark

Your smile, curves up just so

It reaches all the way up there

Your eyes, squinted with loving focus
Bores into me and makes me warm
When you enter any space
That space is lucky
You are a diamond chandelier sparkling about
Starbursts flutter around
Bouncing for everyone to feel
Your life frequency, it vibrates for all to feel
Safe
But
When you leave
Darkness enters and invades it all
My breath, it quickens, erratically
My lips turn down and a tear drops
Splashes on the ground and waters the floor
The world, it begins to fade to black
My heart beat!
My heart, it slows almost all the way to a stop
Screeching, like a stunt car spinning in circles
Until it hits the curb and flips and flops,
Rolls over and over
Until you come back
Then the roll ends!
Rubber side down
Bounces and squeaks to a stop
The chandelier sparkles again
Your presence, it brings me back
It brings the room back from the end
And I fall in love even more
Life without you, must endure though
Still my heart and my life
I will cherish you forever
Your light, it belongs to everyone
I know the end is near
I will continue on
Stop the rolling with my will, all of it
Poured into myself
And search for the light that I can hold onto
For a light that wants to be held
