The First Fall

Parsa Sam

Thought I was happy when I stood at the top,
A smile on my face, yet my soul wore disguise.
A fate to fall had come, no warning, no stop,
The world kicked me down from the boundless skies.

No one there to catch me, neither family nor ties,
Plummeting in the air, scrambling at extreme
I reached for the gods, yet proved to be lies
Finally, exhausted, I let go of all my dreams.

All I had desired now faded from sight,
A bright world replaced by the absurd in mind.
Diving so deep, with a vast, endless sigh,
Swallowed by the void, where no light could I find.

I prayed for the end, for the pain to release,
Waiting to hit the floor, to taste a slight peace.

These are feelings that many have somewhere in life. Deeply felt it reads well and with a sense of desperation. Well done
