To A Child Unborn

Paul Gerard Reed

Listen, future child unborn

Not imagined in the womb,

Read these words of yesterday

As if I were in the room;

For ingrained in every passion

That you hold or dislikes accrue,

I am silently guiding your path

In everything that you do;

I did not invent this route

From the cloth I have been torn,

For I too am carrying the torch

I am the past reborn;

For death alone could not part us

My seed was cast anew,

And although you do not know it,

I am still a part of you.

    A poem of the unborn. A lovely poem of what isn't but could be. Nicely worded and a felt spirit.
