Corporeal soldiers
In front of my eyes
Incorporeal formations
On the front lines
In my mind
I never would have thought
That after all of this time
This war would still be raging on
That I would still be caught up in this fight
With every battle
It gets easier
To see the quitting line
The line of no surrender
Dissipating from my sight
The obstacles are mounting
My resistance is falling weak
In this uphill struggle
The incline is getting steep
Intensifying
With each new engagement
On the verge of breaking down
At the end of my rope
The thought of letting go
Only the splitting threads are holding me now
Each time that I wake
Every time I close my eyes
The bloodshed continues
Trying to hold down my mind
Casualties are endless
No remorse for the dead
It is a damn good thing
This is all inside my head
I attempted to hold a protest
Me and myself would not stand
I stand for democracy
So to keep on fighting is the plan
The days are growing darker
The night’s endurance has no end
There are times that I appear alright
But the facades are starting to blend
With diminishing strength
My will has been shot
Basic functions keep me moving
There’s not much more that I got
But with each day that I survive
After each battle that I’m still alive
After each night into the fray
There remains a hope that I will be okay
So Bring it on
Fuckin Hoorah
Advance the line
Take the front
There will be no surrender
There will be no mercy shown
There will be no taking prisoners
Take the flesh right off their bones
If it’s more that I have to handle
With a little back and forth into the end
Then I’ll just have to be a little stronger
To make it through into the mend

A poem with the metaphor of life as a battle and the destruction that it invokes. Great imagery and flow that conveys the feeling of being drawn in and carried away. Well done
Thank you so much! 🙂
