Fatigued With You

Alex Arnot

Every day,

Every day a new misfortune!

Used by they who call themselves friends,

Punished for sins I never committed.

No rest nor sleep,

I owe myself to you,

And you, and you, and you.

Everybody gets a piece

Of my ever declining sanity.

No place for sanctity to claim my being,

No time to enjoy what I used to have.

That which I give is never returned.

You reap the benefit while I'm left to suffer.

All of my loyalty and all my devotion,

All has gotten me nothing, but screwed!

Still, there's so much I have to live for,

Or I would if I didn't live only for you,

And you, and you, and you.

So come and savor all that is left

Because not much remains that hasn't been swallowed.

For this, this vessel which has no soul,

That once was mine, is now yours to keep.

My heart shall remain forevermore

In the deepest recess of my mind.

I share it only with ink and with paper,

The only things left that could ever deserve it.

This poem conveys a great deal of pain that comes from feeling used and taken advantage of. A very raw write of anger from those that do not care.
