Do I Deserve True Love

SAN2206

When I became a teenager,
I brushed the edge of an unseen world—
I got to know what love might be,
A shimmer in the dark, soft and swirling.

Little by little,
Like petals unfolding under moonlight,
The sweetness of true love whispered to me,
And began to grow a dream in my heart.

I dreamed of a man who truly loves me,
A soul woven from stardust and truth,
A heart who would do anything for me,
Give me the love I’ve only imagined—
The kind I’ve never known, but always felt.

He would treat me like no one ever has,
As if I were made of light and sky.
I want to hug him,
To feel the warmth of his presence—
A warmth that feels like home.

I want to make him mine,
To hold in my hands the wonder of him,
I want to feel true love,
Not in stories or dreams,
But real—living, breathing, boundless.

But heart, I am asking you something…
What is true love, really?

Is it a person who would even die for you,
Stand by you in any storm,
Make you their very first breath,
Their only priority?

Now ask yourself—
Do you truly hold that kind of love within you?
The answer, my heart, is no.

You do not yet carry that love inside,
Then how can one who holds such love
Be drawn to you—be with you?

First, grow that love within—
The kind that shines without needing eyes.
Then, as if called by magic,
The one meant for you will appear
Right in front of you—no need to chase.

Don’t be lost in the confusion,
For this… this is true love.

A poem that addresses the issue of you have no right to ask for what you yourself are not prepared to give yourself. It speaks to the selfishness in relationship expectations. A lovely write.

Isn't love beautiful when it's from both side
