By Me
Today I watched the honeybee
Engaged upon his gathering spree
From rose to buddleia he flies
To gather his sweet pollen prize
Darting here and fluttering there
Hoping there’s enough to spare
Betwixt the petals he will dive
Then homeward to his warm beehive
He’s not a drone but worker bee
Serving with the bee army
Toiling most when days are sunny
To swell the stores of wholesome honey
Unstintingly he serves his Queen
That matriarch so rarely seen
His life has all too short a span
It’s over just days from when began
He’s vital for the pollination
Of the food that feeds the nation
Without his work mankind would famish
Pray God bees stay and never vanish
By AI
With stripes of yellow, black as night
She flits from flower to flower in flight
Collecting nectar with busy care
To bring back sweetness to her hive to share
Her honeycomb home, a work of art
A marvel of geometry, a testament to her heart
She labors tirelessly, day and night
To store the honey, a golden delight
In summer's warmth, she dances free
A whirling dervish, wild and carefree
Communicating secrets, a language all her own
To her sisters, in the hive, she's known
With pollen baskets full, she returns to the nest
Her honey sac heavy, her task is blessed
She'll store the honey, for winter's chill
A sweet reward, for her labor's will
In the hive, she'll rest, her work complete
Her honey, a treasure, to be savored and sweet
A gift to us, from her busy life
A taste of sunshine, a honeybee's strife.

- Comment from author about the poem: I posted this first poem composed by me some time ago. Subsequently my son has introduced me to the marvels of AI so I asked the AI app to write a five verse poem on a honeybee and the second poem, which came back in a second, is the result. Which do you prefer? Do we now live in a world where poems, novels and film scripts etc can all be completed by computers!
