I just want a dog
And a wife,
And kids,
And a shivering little home on a coast.
We’ll sit in sunsets,
Watch our footprints fade
In the softly ebbing tide
And talk about how happy we are
And I’ll go to PTA meetings
Where everyone agrees
To put more money to the table
And build playgrounds instead of casinos
Yeah, I guess I want a dog,
And a wife,
some kids,
And a dog park just down the road.
We’ll play fetch and get her coat
When the wind howls
And sing songs while she
Stomps her legs.
I really want a dog.
A wife, two kids,
And a dream
Where all of this can happen.
She’ll read my stories,
Quietly to the kids,
And we’ll dance on the balcony
at midnight.
I think I want a dog,
And a beautiful soul
And two orphans
that call me dad
and we’ll live in a community
of others like me
who dream the dreams
that I dream.
