Greggs Desciple.

Poetic Licence

Notice of absence from Poetic Licence
R.I.P Dioga Jota
A man who gave joy and pleasure, and played with a smile on his face.

Gregg`s Disciple.

Auntie Pat has developed a very unhealthy habit.

She is now a hardened Greggs disciple and addict.

It was bad even before the invention of Deliveroo.

At least she was mobile to go and join the queue.

She is woken daily up craving that fresh hot pastie.

To auntie anything high in calories is so very tasty.

Hobble down to join the other disciples of Greggs.

To purchase anything with the money she had left.

Joining the queue was her only exercise of the day.

Speedy Deliveroo has taken the daily exercise away.

Every three to four hours Deliveroo keeps delivering.

Auntie Pat's waistband is continuously expanding.

Sausage Rolls, Pasties, Pastries, Donuts on the side.

Now Auntie Pat's addiction to Greggs is easy to hide.

Till you go round to visit her and catch her by surprise.

See all those calories layered on her waist and thighs.

Now auntie Pat sadly can’t fit through the front door.

The Local council man has had to reinforce the floor.

Now auntie even struggles to get out of her own bed.

I guess it does not matter now she will soon be dead.

A fun read of rhyme with a moral and if it were not so directly identifiable with a named real company it would seem a metaphor as well. A most fun read Tobani with a bit of humor attached to this all to true issue. Well done my friend

Obsessity is a real problem these days.It is so easy to get addicted to take away food becasue it doesn't need cooking. A fictional character but I think many of us can relate to the problem. An important poem.Well done

Fat shaming are yer? Only joking - I don't understand obesity either.

    • Poetic Licence

Round where I live you see obesity every where, from young kids upwards and quite often you see whole families all obese, its a growing problem one might say!!!

      • Doggerel Dave

I am diabetic on insulin, so if I did not ration the amount of food I eat would die early (probably a bit late to say that now😅). The same result on a different scale exists for the obese, surely....

        • Poetic Licence

You would of thought so and to those who are obese you would of thought that is obvious to them, as they say, hey ho!!!

          • Doggerel Dave

Yeh as you say, hey ho......... Anyone want to join the debate and explain themselves?

You're a riot! What a superb advertisement for that British phenomenon. How gorgeously rendered with exceptional imagery and a delightful poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing.
