The Long Goodbye

Parsa

Au revoir, cher ami, if it's the end,
It started when my heart felt light and free,
No special feelings did I then intend,
Now sadness strikes when the most I like thee.

My angel, symbol of beauty and grace,
My moon, you lit the stars on darkest nights,
A shooting star was our shared time and space,
Ephemeral, yet shining in its flight.

Farewell to wishes, as birds flew away,
The moments faded, songs began to wane,
The love I held never had chance to stay,
You were the one dream never truly came.

Though dreams buried 'neath an unspoken pact,
If it's the end, let grateful thoughts arise,
For all the plays I wrote for us to act,
For poems I penned under hopeful skies.

I hope this poem may not be the last,
But just a pause within the phase we danced,
A future Journey waiting to be cast,
Through which we both decide to advance.

Although I feel this is the last goodbye,
I'll close my eyes and think another way,
As I hold your memory ever nigh,
I hope to meet again some other day.

A poem of farewell that seems sad and still with a sense of longing. Nicely done

A touching write at the realization of having to say goodbye, and it is a beautiful way to say that, I wasn't sure if the relationship had broken down or the person had passed on, enjoyed the read
