The long lazy days of summer are fast approaching
They are, upon the joys of spring, encroaching
Drowsy, boring days are not far off
As seasons change, they bring cold and cough…
Plans will be made to visit the hill-stations so cool
Since the youngsters will have vacations from school
The buds and leaves and the lovely flowers
That will now sway through the sunny hours
Will then wake up from winter’s deep sleep
As day by day, the sun, longer hours , does keep
Summer is loved by one and all
It’s a time to relax and prepare for the fall..

A nicely rhymed poem of the seasons focusing on summer. It leaves a very pleasant feel and is most calm. Well written
thank you - it does make us drowsy and disinclined to step out - one feels like just relaxing, and enjoying - maybe at the beach or the poolside
Since the tea I am addicted to comes from India, I hesitate to upset you by pointing out that not all of the world is experiencing the paradise you so eloquently versify here.😊
I see repeated references to the hill stations in literature with a colonial tinge. How do they look? From you an explanation or references, please.
i am not at all upset by your remarks, and presume you are having tea from Darjeeling or Simla - the tea slopes there and down south in Ootacamund [Ooty] do produce some amazing tea - glad you are enjoying the same
All the above are hill stations which are basically lovely with lots of green slopes of tea and coffee
The only hitch is that they are now tourist destinations so during the vacation time, - they have become highly commercialized, and on weekends they are extremely crowded and best avoided
So we prefer visiting them during weekdays - near Mumbai we have Lonavala and Mahableshwar [you can goggle them] which have some beautiful resorts -some of them are private for just single families and one can enjoy peace and solitude - can vouch for them as we have been to both places with family and also with friends
Welcome to visit India and enjoy the diversity it offers.
Comprehensive response, M or perhaps S !
So let’s try and be equally ..…
- No, residing in Sydney Oz.
- No, my morning get up and go is a large strong mug of Assam without milk or sugar. I did once experience a cup of Darjeeling which was worthy of the accolade ‘Champagne of Teas’ The memory remains. Unfortunately I’ve also had inflicted upon me tea with the same classification but no corresponding pleasure.
- Unfortunately my travel days are over, so the hill stations are now out of reach – a shame. However I do have the Blue Mountains, behind Sydney.
Take care of yourself.
Enjoy the Blue Mountains - since it's available and close by - yes it's unfortunate that you could not see the beauty of nature of our hill stations - even the drive there is lovely, since in the monsoon season, natural water falls form in the mountains we pass through, [the Western Ghats] and its lush and green, and beautiful to behold..
Assam tea is also a favorite with many - keep enjoying it
have a lovely weekend - take care..
A nice write of the change of seasons, sadly we don't get enough sun here
welcome to India - we get more than enough of it here.
thanks for the feedback
You are very welcome
Yes, Each season is beautiful and, eventually, overwhelming...each having its time and place and then giving way to the next. What a lovely poem, my friend. Much enjoyed. 🌹👏
thank you so much for the lovely feedback - appreciate it
the change of seasons, and the way it gradually blends into the next, is simply amazing and Nature is always beautiful in different ways in different seasons
Amen. For sure. You are most welcome, my friend!
A lovely poem of summer days, as if you were talking to the reader, so relaxed your style of writing and a joy to read. The colours of India on display, buds to flower and the unfolding leaves swaying through your beautiful verse. Just lovely.
Do take care now,
Tony.
thank you so much.
Actually this poem was written some years back, but found it while scrolling through my poems, and decided to share it.
the seasons are lovely for sure, and so are the hill stations we go to during holidays, they are worth a visit, though now are overcrowded - so we prefer to go during weekdays as we are retired now.
