Compensation

Parsa Samadnejad

The shared moment, now a memory's ghost,

Began our story with a lovely pace,

Your cuteness, your smile, filled my eyes the most,

Have you forgotten all within that space?

Perhaps my coldness was bold and expressed,

Fractured the sweet flow of your kindliness,

In the corner, with poems I'm obsessed

And lost unto your world, with heedlessness.

Fear of causing sadness kept us discrete,

That moment held a friendship yet to bloom,

But now at the farthest, where eyes can't meet,

Blame lies with me, sparking the moment's doom.

First time, the words I couldn't then impart,

Instead, I now would offer you my heart.
