There's a man
in my blood
whom I don't quite remember
They tell me his name
as if pointing to a wound
and I remain silent
because the wound is me
Miguel
uncle of wine
and ownerless banks
Were you a shadow or a promise?
Did you give yourself over to the abyss
or were you swallowed up by the laughter of others?
The squares dream of you
they sleep with your bones
the cardboard in your cradle
the bottle, your gospel
and I,
your last believer
I saw you once
in the mist left by tears
you smoked words as if they hurt
as if they were yours
I too hide
from clean words
I too resemble
what everyone denies
what hurts without crying
Miguel, I miss you
without having reached you
I name you
like someone praying
with their mouth sewn shut
maybe
I was only
your unborn dream
or maybe
you are my death
that has not yet arrived.

A lovely character development in this poem. Loved it
Thank you so much for the words of encouragement and for stopping by. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Best regards!
I have to be honest I am still working on this one, I like the building of the character and story but I think the meaning is multilayered and I haven't quite got it yet, dark, haunting and enjoyable read
Well, sir, thank you very much for taking the time to read this. In this article, I simply seek to connect with the soul of a loved one and heal the wounds of other generations, seeking in some way to explain why I am the way I am. I'm very glad you liked it. Best regards.
Thank you that makes sense now, enjoy the rest of your weekend
Love it

You're welcome
Excellent, my friend. The character development and meaning of the poem stand out. A fave from me! 🌹👏
Wow, well thank you very much. For me it was relieved to be able to take such a painful wound. Thank you very much for the words of support, sometimes do not imagine how comforting it is. Greetings and good weekend!
You are most welcome and the same to you as well!
Hello again, to me this poem reached out from the paragraphs. There was something about it becoming an intense lament . A lamentation for life for reversed reflections. For taking the embers from the fire and using them as voices that speak through the flakes and the flames. For me this piece had great impact. Its voice is just so strong and compelling that I felt drawn in. Though not by mere emotions since your piece reflects many realities. The darker ones that perhaps we turn our back towards, the shards, the bits and pieces. Thank you for sharing this poem!
