Hollywood Knights

Kurt Philip Behm

Built on envy

and city lights

The vagrant actor

alone at night

In hidden alleys

with tinsel thorns

On celluloid

new lies are born

A big screen promise

of broken dreams

The waitress car hop

on Wilshire scheme

Drugged on stardom

with toxic friends

What footlight’s start

— the darkness ends

Well put metaphor for life as well. We all strive for recognition that is more often than not, not obtained. The falling back into darkness and oblivion. This is felt in the poem that although it has a polished surface underneath has a raw and bleeding body. Well done Kurt and a fave

Thanks. Vegas is even worse. I wrote a poem years ago called \"The Poet Of Las Vegas Boulevard.\"

The Poet of Las Vegas Boulevard
      steals emotion from the night

Holding a vigil in the darkness
      waiting for the light

The Poet of Las Vegas Boulevard
among the screams and homeless cries

Making rhyme of what reason has abandoned
—marking time inside the shadow of lies

(Las Vegas Boulevard: January 24, 2016)

Been to Hollywood and know of what you speak. Also, having read the comments above, I have been to Vegas and, there again, I concur. Well done, my friend! 🌹👏
