We were never truly separate.
We were a sigh of the same light, a spark from the original fire that chose to split only to remember itself.
You are not just you.
I am not just me.
We are the same essence in different disguises, playing at being lost just to taste reunion.
Every face I see carries a hidden reflection of me.
Every embrace that reaches me
is a fragment of return.
There are no soulmates—only soul memories that awaken when someone looks at us as if they’ve seen us before.
We are leaves from the same tree, waves from the same river, flames from the same fire.
You, me, them—we all come from the same source.
And if ever I forget who I am, remind me with your presence: that is the purest sign we are still connected.

This is a prominent theory on the aspect of consciousness that we are merely receivers for a greater universal consciousness that gives us the illusion of individual identity. We are all one and because of this all the more reason for compassion toward others and all life forms because they are all us. Lovely write.
Thank you for reading with such depth.
Your words honor the place this poem was born from — a quiet place inside me that has always sensed we’re not as separate as we’ve been told.
Yes, we are receivers… but also reminders. Of compassion. Of essence. Of return.
I’m grateful this reached you.
Enjoyed the read
Thank you for taking the time to read.
This poem came from a place inside me that believes we’re all still connected — not by accident, but by memory.
You are very welcome
