Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.
I will surely get back to you when I come online.
One by one
we take a bow,
Leaving our
kiths and kin behind.
Many will wail
in tearful laughter,
Feasting in painful tears,
Music will echo here and there.
Frenemies will smile in sorrow,
Death a debt for all mortals,
Many have gone home before us,
To rest in peace or pieces.
We are sojourners on earth,
Entrusted with talents and gifts,
All heads will return home,
To account for their stewardship.
Today, it's Adeyinka, Adamu, Adaobi...
Tomorrow unknown,
One by one, we take a bow,
We live to die, and die to live.

- Comment from author about the poem: The poem reflects on death. Every living soul will die. So death is a debt that we humans owe. One by one we take a bow out of this wicked world.

Death is but a change in the cycle of life and so we must all go on. No one gets out of this life alive. Good write.
