Because I Trusted You

Because I Trusted You

People ask why I don't trust anymore. And then I remember you.

You told me I was broken— and I believed you. You gave me labels that didn’t fit— and I wore them anyway. You told me they didn’t like me anymore— and I grieved a friendship I never actually lost.

All because I trusted you.

And now, every time someone reaches out, I flinch. Not from their touch— but from the ghost of yours.

Sad how those that we trust can influence our belief in ourselves. A sad but true effect. Nicely done

A sad and touching write of how those we trust impact how we think and feel, and sometimes that trust is abused, nicely expressed and written
