Freedom of Expression.

Poetic Licence

Freedom of Expression.

Theres been a suggestion.

Quickly gathering some traction.

Have started the suppressing.

Our freedom of expression.

It's a frightening proposition.

Untruths are now obsession.

Free speech needs defending.

Our freedom needs protecting.

Manipulating the conversation.

Heavy-handed restrictions.

Limiting every other option.

Of making informed decisions.

The thought is concerning.

With that constant imposing.

Ancient laws are enforced.

Illegally changing our course.

The world becomes confusing.

Expressive freedom is losing.

Limited way of expressing.

Becoming very depressing.

The truth needs exposing.

Lies we should be opposing.

Altogether we should be defending.

Our freedom of expression.

Some restriction on speech such as that that would cause irrevocable harm to another (shouting fire in a crowded area, deliberate slander of another, false advertising) have already been restricted but anything further is questionable, I believe in politeness and curtesy but restrictions on political correctness should be left up to public response. I am for freedom of speech

This freedom is not only to be enjoyed but to be protected, strengthened, and developed 🙏🏻🕊️

Yes and yes and yes and yes and yes and yes - is that six? (should equal the number of stanzas in your poem, with which I heartily agree.)
Freedom of expression is self evidently the way to go.
I'm just left wondering if there were some specific action/legislation in the UK recently which stirred you into this declaration?

Every day there is something new to shut people up across the world, in england at the moment it's really popular to clamp down on people expressing their views on Gaza and the continued killing going on there, if you are against those killings( like me) you are classed as anti semitic and a supporter of terrorism, which frankly is just bollocks, we just don't like blatant murdering of any people, that's just one example of many, thank you for your feedback

Got you. Insoluble problem though. Debate around any controversial subject or situation is going to include wide spectrum of responses from the idiot to the open minded, from the biased and bigoted to the well-informed. Freedom of speech inevitably means that the brainless as well as those with grey matter upstairs are entitled to have a say. Idiocy is everywhere........ A conundrum (a word I seem to use muchly lately).

Yep it's gone crazy, free speech is free speech, I don't like alot of what I hear and read but I respect the fact they are entitled to say it, its what my grandfather fought for, freedom. The other hot topic here is child grooming gangs, people are so scared including politicians to tell the truth incase it stirs up racial tensions, and it goes on and on, enjoy the rest of your day

I'll try after all that, lol. No, it's not funny, and I'm not sure how to respond, other than to say solutions, if any become available, lie not in free speech but what is done with the stuff not liked or definitely wrong,. Free speech is a nice concept until you have to deal with racists, those who hold and vocalise sexist views and so on.....

💯 Totally for freedom of speech. People seem to only like it when they like the speech...but that's the point of free speech, it can be said without approval. There are natural consequences to saying things one shouldn't, so let those do the work. No need to ban speech. Well done on this, my friend! A great poem to resume "normal services" with. Love it! 🌹👏

You won't find me complaining! Not even with that little "Report" link thingy underneath. 🤣 All jokes aside, you are most welcome, my friend.

Hmm. I wonder whether it all depends on which alleged freedoms are being curtailed by the resurgence of "ancient" laws. After all, what we prefer not to acknowledge is the fact which our Declaration of Independence alluded to, namely, "...the laws of nature and nature's God..." Were I to begin enlarging on this the can of worms thus opened would overflow with squirmies. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
