I am nobody's Funmi

Funmiwrites

‎I Am Nobody’s Funmi

‎I am nobody's Funmi.

‎I won’t be the one—

‎Not the dream in your arms,

‎Not the echo of your want.

‎I am nobody’s Funmi.

‎Not even my birth root

‎Can lay claim to me.

‎I won’t be tied beneath

‎Your soaked armpit of desire.

‎I am nobody’s Funmi.

‎You can’t have me.

‎You won’t keep me.

‎I am not a name for your leash—

‎I own myself.

‎I am nobody’s Funmi.

‎I’m not your Funmi cares—

‎I feel my own way.

‎Not your Funmi writes—

‎These are my words, my wounds, my wins.

‎I am nobody’s Funmi.

‎Don’t try to shape my pen,

‎Or carve your will on my blank pages.

‎I am not your story to edit.

‎I am nobody’s Funmi.

‎Why do you call me yours?

‎Because my pictures

‎Pull saliva from your hungry mouth?

‎Because my pen reshapes

‎Your jagged thoughts?

‎Do my pages

‎Cover your shapeless body?

‎Does my ink

‎Wash the stench of your lies?

‎Then ask yourself—

‎Is that love? Or need? Or theft?

‎Nobody owns me—

‎Not even the roots that bore me.

‎I am my own ink.

‎I write in my name.

‎I bleed on my own pages.

‎Don’t try to dilute my voice,

‎Or flood my story with your water.

‎I am nobody’s Funmi.

‎I am mine.
