THE VOTE

nephilim56

The ugly face
Of immorality
On a tv screen
Watching those
With conscience
Out voted
By those upon
The gravy train.

Some sat on
Their grubby hands
Condemning millions
To suffer some to die
The young the old
The disabled child
No longer illness
Does apply.

Socialism ended
Fuck the working man
The most vunerable
Those in poverty
The government
Casts a grin.

At least we know
Those who voted against
As a Labour Party
Crumbles to dust
Devoid of Humanity
Compassion
Basics
Trust.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Last nights vote upon stopping benefits to help the disabled in their daily needs was held in the UK, many Labour mps with passionate pleas fell on deaf ears and they were outvoted by those of their own party, a once proud political party with the view that the poor and vunerable should be helped in society, this horror story played out on tv screens. I voted for them to bring justice back into our society, never again. They are finished, the vote leaves a dark stain on our history. Now awaiting the first suicides deaths increased poverty and general destruction.

Always a battle between man's greed and that of compassion in an overloaded rowboat where so many are drowning who do we take in? Some say all can be saved but with eight billion and growing on a planet with limited resources where do individual freedoms end and group rights begin? A heavy poem

A letter from the Old Country. Thought you were from America for a while there, where something similar, i believe is going on.
Unequal societies become even more unequal.
The UK, it would appear is not the UK I knew in the 'Sixties and 'seventies.
