Benue

Timothy Hilary Musa

The ground bleed tears
The earth stand at ease
The Night peeps in shock
Man's heartlessness carries
Triplet

The earth sobs
The soil shivers
Man's sarr'bu stages a show
The harmless innocent
The helpless aged, caught in a web

Sleeping in silent
The killers feast their
thirsty swords ⚔️ in
its enemies flesh.

Burning bodies
suffocate the sinless souls
The headless, stiffens in silence
As its breath fizzles with the hellish haze

Elephant 🐘, Elephants, Camouflage!
It is for lives and property duty calls
I do not blame you
But the haters of our country

Vengeance or retaliation?
I do not know.
Our ears swallows this sour deed
Attracting the Eagle's 🦅
land, landing on the yam basket

How long will this continue?

When will tabling on peace not

birth fresh flow of blood?

Both Yams and cattle is of

Man to lord on

A peaceful plate is possible.

A heartfelt write of a plea for peace for his country and fellow man, nicely expressed and written

War and peace a novel by Tolstoy and a plea not only from this poem but from many. Yet the cycle continues. War is where the innocent suffer for the greed of the the mighty. Money to be made on the bodies of the fallen. A good write keep up the good work.
